Important information regarding return of recreational cricket

Posted by Chris Ricaldone on 11 July 2020

Ahead of the return of recreational cricket this weekend, we have now received the following guidance documents from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB):

ECB return to cricket plan for Step 4

Playing plan summary

Plan for socially-distanced cricket matches in England

The key points are as follows:

  1. Before coming to the ground, please do a self-check to ensure you do not have any symptoms of coronavirus.
  2. A register will be kept of all those who attend for matches, training and any club activities for the benefit of the track and trace system.
  3. If you or anyone in your household has symptoms, please follow government guidelines and self-isolate, do not come to any training sessions or matches.  Alert a club official, as playing will cause a club-wide closure leaving us unable fulfil matches etc.
  4. If after a club encounter you find you have coronavirus please contact a club official ASAP so this can be recorded and reported through track and trace.
  5. Please bring your own hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial wipes, ensuring you wipe down any surfaces you may touch, before and after use.
  6. The pavilion remains closed for everything with the exception of the toilets, these can be used, however please wipe down with antibacterial wipes, before and after use.
  7. Upon arriving up the ground, please wash your hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds, and then sanitize them.
  8. Sanitizing hands should take place:
    1. Before entering the field of play.
    2. Every hygiene break which is every 6 overs.
    3. Every time you leave and renter the field of play.
  9. In the event of rain, please return to your cars where possible, if not possible please find alternate shelter as the pavilion and changing rooms cannot be opened.
  10. Please come ready changed and ready to play, all kit can be kept outside or in your car.
  11. Maintain social distancing at all times.
  12. Use your own equipment where possible, if not we will allocate some to you.
  13. Nets to be used on the basis of every other net.
  14. No saliva or sweat to be placed on the ball, avoid touching face.
  15. Bring your own drinks and food as nothing will be provided.

If you wish to participate in recreational cricket this summer, either by attending training sessions or playing in matches, please email agcc.communication@outlook.com to confirm that you have read and understood the key points above, and agree to follow the measures laid out to ensure a safe environment for all players, spectators, volunteers, coaches and officials.

Please note - you will not be allowed to participate in any form of recreational cricket until we have an email from you confirming the above.

If you have any questions or queries, please contact Nirav Bhuva.
