Adverse weather:  If a training session is cancelled due to adverse weather, we will endeavour to post this news on the Club website and social media channels by 5.30pm at the latest.  If possible we will also send an email notification of the cancellation.  If you are unsure whether a session is going ahead then please feel free to telephone or text us.

Matches:  Here is the AGCC Juniors Fixture List 2018.  Fixtures are also detailed on the Club website and on Play Cricket.

We aim to give all children who attend training the chance to play in a match at some stage during the season.  Details of adult matches for which Junior players aged 13 and over may be selected will be provided separately.

Your child’s coaches will advise you what time to meet for matches.  Sunday morning matches start at 10am and weekday matches start at 6pm.  Matches usually last about 2½ - 3 hours.  Refreshments are usually provided for players but your child might want to bring a water bottle as well.  Do come and watch the games as it’s always good to have some support and build a nice ‘club’ atmosphere.  You can bring your own refreshments, though many clubs offer soft drinks, tea and coffee etc and some have a licensed bar.

We will supply maps and directions for away matches.  Please note that as a general rule, the coaches are unable to provide lifts for children to and from matches and so it would be helpful if you could make your own transport arrangements.

Membership Forms and Fees:  The AGCC Junior Membership and Consent Form is important as it contains your contact details and consent for your child to take part in the Club’s activities and receive medical treatment in the event of an accident.  Please complete the form and submit payment of the subscription fee as soon as possible, and by no later than your child’s first scheduled match.  Please note that if we do not have a completed membership form for your child or if subscription fees remain unpaid, then your child may not be eligible to play in matches.

The Junior membership subscription remained the same in 2016 and 2017.  However, there will be a £10 increase for the 2018 season, which means the subscription will be £45.  Despite this increase we still remain cheaper than several other local clubs, and the Committee believe the adjustment to be fair and reasonable.  Match fees of £1 per game will be collected from each player as and when your child plays in a match.

Clothing and equipment:  Appropriate sports clothing should be worn for training sessions and matches; including sports shoes, clothing suitable for running, stretching and falling onto grass.  For matches, cricket whites are nice but not essential at this level.  Until your child is certain that he or she wants to continue playing, we suggest wearing a white shirt (eg. a school PE polo shirt), long sports trousers and, if possible, light coloured jumper or sweat shirt for matches.  Aspley Guise Cricket Club kit can be bought from our club shop.  If the weather is likely to be sunny, sun cream and a hat are strongly recommended.

Under 13s and Under 15s matches are played with a traditional hard cricket ball and protective equipment is available.  However we recommend players buy their own ‘box’ protector and suitable briefs to put it in.  The Under 9s and Under 11s will use the softer ‘Incrediball’.  Don’t worry if you child doesn’t have a cricket bat, as the Club has several for use.
